The aim of this study is the realization of a model for the analysis of urban water traffic in the historic center of Venice, in collaboration with the Department of Applied Mathematics, University of Venice, Company Forma Urbis, Thetis Spa and external experts. MANTA is a tool that can simulate, represent and analyze the water traffic of the network of canals of Venice in different conditions of the regulation of traffic. The objective of this work was the realization of a model for the analysis of urban water traffic in the historic center of Venice. The multidisciplinary team has seen the collaboration of the Department of Applied Mathematics, University of Venice, della nostra società Forma Urbis, of Thetis Spa, and subsequently Venis Spa, with additional external experts.

Modular Manta

MANTA is a tool that can simulate, represent and analyze the water traffic of the network of canals of Venice in different conditions of the regulation of traffic. The traffic simulation is the heart of the program and consists of an open queuing network model. The simulator generates traffic scenarios that constitute the input of the GIS module (Geographical Information System). The GIS allows the dynamic display of simulation results and statistical analysis of data. The system can integrate the sensor network environment and tools GPS (Global Position System) detection of existing traffic.

Forma Urbis has lent his scientific collaboration at all stages of the implementation of Manta, dealing with particular reference to the following work:

creation of materials grafo_segmenti (ingraphic isualizzazione of archi componenti the graph and structure of MapInfo file browser)

creation of materials nodo_intersezione, worth dire il punto di incontro tra due archi o più creazione degli elementi chiamati pseudo_noe suddivisi in “Nodi_Ponte”, ”Nodi_Restringimento” e “Nodi_Fermata”

conseguente creazione del Database relativo agli elementi Grafo su base Access ® clip_image002[7]
