SMART INSULA is an integrated program designed to manage and maintain the urban area of Venice and is one of the first tailor-made in Italy between those using the GIS.

E 'tool used by Insula SpA. management of spatial data related to spatial rii citizens and heritage of the urbanization primary and, namely, is a decision support. Its realization has assumed the collection of a considerable amount of physical data especially with regard to the channels (length, width, depth, etc..) through various campaigns sensing bathymetry and the state of conservation.

The general map has been divided into different levels (the country, flooring, roads, bridges, sewage and damage, banks, and banks), which is associated with a database, filterable by map, with related thematizations automatic and advanced space research.
The database have been linked pictures and movies.

In this first part was added a three-dimensional processing engine for the construction and
analysis of the surfaces of mud accumulated in the canals of Venice and draws dynamically bathymetric data from the central database.

The program can then provide, 3D images with the actual texture of the accumulation of sludge deposited in the seabed, allows the quantification for a possible take-away.

Over time has been integrated with information from other work we have carried out (as the rating of bridges, shorelines and the recognition of the conservation status of the banks around the city island territories) making it an increasingly important tool for urban planning of maintenance work.
